ABOUT ELLIOTT

Whether you judge it by popularity, critical acclaim, prices achieved, creative imagination, originality, substance, technical virtuosity, colour sense, composition - or all of them combined - JAMES ELLIOTT is a formidable artist photographer.

When Elliott first burst onto the Photography scene, he was the first of a new generation of artists who would select Photography as their chosen medium. Elliott very much pioneered art photography and remains today the leading light.

It was not just Elliott's approach which was revolutionary but also the startling level of originality and creativity in his work which drew comparisons with the greatest names in art. A new standard of accolade for a photographer.

Variously described as "England's / Europe's / the world's top (art) photographer" and critically acclaimed in publications as diverse as The Times, Maxim, BJP, Arts Review, Loaded and Penthouse. The broad appeal of his work is obvious.

His painstakingly produced photographic masterpieces are highly sought after and already fetch up to $40,000 each and have at many times smashed world records for a living photographer.

Elevating photography to Fine Art status was of course, only Elliott's opening gambit. In the years that followed, many observers including The Times, noted that it was odd that EL referred to himself as a Photographer and that this was and is, a 'reductive epithet'.

Variously described as artist, photographer, genius, perfectionist, revolutionary, pioneer and innovator, Elliott is a unique and original talent who likely requires a new epithet, as descriptions to date are far from laconic.

EL's next revolution was to invent Fetish Photography as we know it today and launch a million imitators. Despite massive initial criticism, Elliott didn't flinch and went on to elevate erotica to a dazzling new high. Something he is still doing today. Decades later he is widely regarded as the world's greatest erotic and glamour photographer.

Elliott's third revolution came in the early Nineties. Whilst the world said art could not be created with computers, EL created the world's first great masterpieces in this medium and in the decade that followed created Art of a stature which still sets the standard today.

His work has been exhibited in London, New York and Paris and published in countless magazines and books all over the world. Elliott was recently published in his own erotic monograph as part of a series of world greats.

Elliott's work shows exceptional range from profound images of great substance through to images of breath-taking glamour and beauty. This depth and breadth is unusual even amongst masters. His work has been highly influential.

The defining elements of Elliott's art are his ability to synergistically combine a heavyweight creative imagination with amazing beauty and sign it all off with an unmistakable gravitas. These are the hallmarks of a unique and original talent.
