Evolution of a Title
This list shows how the title evolved over 18 months. El eventually gave it 8 hours of solid thought before deciding on the final one. This is unusual as El's titles are normally intuitive and automatic. In fact, in a way this one pretty much was too, as despite all the thought he gave it, he already had the title. Save but for a couple of letters. Still, it gives an insight into the way his mind works - as if he wants to exhaust all possibilities of creating anything better.
He says there were three criteria.
A title as extraordinary as the picture.
The title must make sense and be relevant to the image.
It must be euphonic, a pleasure to pronounce and listen to.
He considered more than 200 titles over three days and 8 hours of thought.
El says "Usually titles just come to me without any preconception but this one didn't."
and adds
"It had to make synergistic sense and I just couldn't get the euphony right."
